World Food Day

October 16, 2017

At Cattle Empire, we are proud to raise beef, a food that is enjoyed by people across the world. Below are a few fun facts about the food we grow that we think are worth celebrating.

  • One 3-oz. serving of beef provides 25 grams of protein. That is approximately half of your Daily Value, making it an excellent source.
  • Beef contains 10 essential nutrients that your body needs including Protein, B12, Selenium, Zinc, Niacin, B6, Phosphorus, Choline, Iron, and Riboflavin. Bonus: You can get all of these nutrients in one 3-oz. serving for only 150 calories!
  • More than 60 percent of whole muscle cuts found at the supermarket are considered lean, meaning they contain less than 10 grams of total fat, 4.5 grams or less of saturated fat, and less than 95 mg of cholesterol.
  • In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers from Penn State University found that people who participated in the Beef in an Optimal Lean Diet (BOLD) study, consuming lean beef daily as part of a heart-healthy diet, experienced a 10 percent decline in LDL "bad" cholesterol, and still met targets for saturated fat intake.
  • It’s delicious!
