Cattle Empire was pleased to join Satanta and Sublette FFA students for their Ag Day educational experience at Satanta High School in honor of National FFA Week. Agricultural businesses and farmers from the community came to Satanta High School on Friday to share with approximately 150 elementary school students about their segment of agriculture. Cattle Empire had two stations at the event. Empire Calf Ranch’s favorite celebrity “Daisy” made an appearance in the live animal exhibits, escorted by Assistant Foreman Calie Hazen.
Cattle Empire also had a hands-on booth where students learned about how cattle at the feedyard receive a balanced diet, and they got to see and learn about the various feed ingredients that are included in a feedyard ration: steam-flaked corn, silage/forage, and dry distiller grains. After learning about these components, students got to assemble their own healthy ration snack to take home, including corn flakes, shredded wheat, and peanuts.
Thanks to Satanta FFA Advisor Mrs. Carlie Rooney for hosting the event, and thank you to the Satanta and Sublette FFA chapters for volunteering and organizing a valuable educational experience for our local students. It was an awesome way to end National FFA Week!
